Toen enkele maanden geleden het tragische nieuws naar buiten kwam dat gitarist Ryan Siew op zesentwintigjarige leeftijd overleden was, gonsde er een schokgolf door de metalcorewereld. Een dag voor Ryan zijn overlijden speelde Polaris nog op Graspop, waar de bandleden naast nummers uit ‘The Death of Me’ en ‘The Mortal Coil’ ook alvast een voorproefje gaven van hun nieuw album. Hoewel ‘Fatalism’ een heel andere dimensie krijgt met het plotse en triestige verlies, stralen de Australiërs een bepaalde kracht en weerbaarheid uit die je eenvoudigweg bij het nekvel grijpt. Met een blik op de toekomst is het licht van Polaris allesbehalve gedoofd: daar is de krachtige en beklijvende single ‘Overflow’ het ideale bewijs van.

Meer info: Na de succesvolle co-headline 'Worlds Collide Tour' met Evanescence, waarmee ze tweemaal in een uitverkocht Paleis 12 stonden, is Within Temptation trots om hun 'BLEED OUT 2024 TOUR' aan te kondigen. On 22 February Nothing More is coming to Trix, Antwerp! Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, the band stubbornly steered their own course only to be rewarded years later with the breakthrough they so thoroughly deserve. Founded in 2003 by drummer John Hawkins and guitarist Mark Vollelunga, four albums and hundreds of shows only resulted in moderate success in their early years. Things started happening when Hawkins decided to switch his drumsticks for the microphone but the final piece of the puzzle didn’t drop into place until 2014, when they were signed by Eleven Music. The label re-released their latest, self-titled CD ‘Nothing More’. Follow-up ‘The Stories We Tell Ourselves’ (2017) was another step in the right direction and support slots for Papa Roach and Ghost, amongst others, paved the way to further success. They like to take a DIY approach to things and this includes production and artwork as well as instrumental contraptions the likes of which you’ve never seen before. On their latest full-length ‘Spirits’ (2022) they continue to experiment so there’s plenty to enjoy for alternative rock/metal fans.
