Edge of Paradise kondigt nieuw album aan

Met geprezen albums als Universe (2019), The Unknown (2021) en Hologram (2023), evenals tours met bands als Lacuna Coil, DragonForce en Amaranthe, hebben de in Los Angeles gevestigde cinematic hardrockers Edge Of Paradise zich stevig gevestigd op de heavy muziekscene. Vandaag kondigen ze hun zesde studioalbum en Napalm Records debuut aan getiteld Prophecy, dat op 7 maart 2025 verschijnt.

Op Prophecy vechten Edge Of Paradise tegen de existentiële crisis van wat algemeen bekend staat als "The Singularity", het voorspelde moment in de tijd waarin de mensheid de controle over kunstmatige intelligentie verliest, wat kan leiden tot potentieel catastrofale verschuivingen in het leven zoals wij dat kennen. Bandbrein en enigmatische frontvrouw Margarita Monet bestrijdt deze grimmige voorspelling met haar kwetsbare, zelfspottende teksten en opvallende artwork op de hoes en bijbehorende earbook. Het album is mede geproduceerd door Mike Plotnikoff (Nita Strauss, Apocalyptica, Daughtry, Three Days Grace), en gemixt en gemasterd door Jacob Hansen (Amaranthe, Arch Enemy, Katatonia, Delain, Evergrey).

Naast de album aankondiging, lost de band het melodisch Death Note, een donderende song gebouwd op grote riffs en harmonieuze hooks, dat luisteraars aanspoort "om te ontsnappen aan hun technologische grenzen en opnieuw verbinding te maken met de mensheid", aldus de band. Ze zegt het volgende over deze single:

“Death Note’ is an intense battle for identity and connection, powered by soaring melodies and an aggressive sound. In a world where digital forces aim to seize control, and greed and conquest have dehumanized existence and stripped away individuality, two souls stand in defiance. Together, they fight to preserve the essence of being alive.
