Katatonia brengt nieuw album uit, single Lilac uit

Katatonia brengt op 6 juni hun nieuw album Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State uit bij Napalm Records. Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State markeert de volgende stap in de evolutie van Katatonia, voortbouwend op de basis van hun vorige album, Sky Void of Stars (2023), en is tevens een introductie tot hun twee nieuwe gitaristen. Katatonia bestaat in 2025 uit zanger en oprichter Jonas Renkse, bassist Niklas Sandin, drummer Daniel Moilanen en gitaristen Nico Elgstrand en Sebastian Svalland.

Met de vandaag onthulde eerste single van het album, Lilac, biedt Katatonia een eerste blik op wat fans van de nieuwe plaat kunnen verwachten. Het nummer toont de onmiskenbare zang van Jonas Renkse die verweven is met hypnotiserende ritmes, zware riffs en progressieve elementen. Begeleid door een sfeervolle officiële muziekvideo, spreekt Lilac recht tot het hart en bewijst het Katatonia's ongeëvenaarde vermogen om luisteraars mee te slepen in een wervelwind van roerende emoties.

Katatonia is headliner op het Headbanger's Balls Fest op 3 mei in Izegem. Later dit jaar keren ze terug en op 16 december zijn ze in Trix te zien.
